Violonist - Accordionist - Composer
Biography
Born in 1999 in Mons, Loris Douyez was offered an eighth of a violin by his maternal grandmother on his 4th birthday, and therefore began to practice it. Since his first concert as a soloist (at the age of 7), he has multiplied his performances in Belgium and abroad during concerts and festivals: Django Reinhardt (Belgium), Carrefour Mondial de l'Accordéon (Canada) , Novosibirsk Festival (Siberia),…
At the age of 9, he decided to take accordion lessons in the class of his father, Olivier Douyez. In 2014, he entered Arts² (Royal Conservatory of Mons) as a “Young Talent” for both instruments. In his father's class for the accordion, and in that of Daniel Rubenstein on the violin.
He has attended many Violin Masterclasses with, among others; Jerrold Rubenstein, Ivry Gitlis and accordion with Jacques Mornet, Frederic Deschamps, Vladimir Orlov, Massimiliano Pitocco, …
Since 2014, Loris Douyez has been a member of Duo Douyez (violin-accordion duo with his father).
From 2018 to 2021, he studied the violin with Wibert Aerts, within Arts² and obtained a Specialized Master in violin, alongside his Specialized Master in accordion obtained with the highest points in June 2022.
Loris Douyez also has two Didactic Masters, one in the violin and the other in the accordion, thus giving him the number of 5 Masters obtained in a higher school of Music.
He has taken part in numerous international competitions and won numerous prizes, including 2nd place (Masters category) at the 74th Accordion World Cup in Munich (Germany), in October 2021 and 2nd place (Premio category) at the International Competition PIF Castelfidardo 2022.
Loris Douyez is part of the Ensemble Musiques Nouvelles and has already participated in various creations: Jean-Luc Fafchamps & Musiques Nouvelles, Á l' Unison, Rituels sonores, Brecht on the Groove, "60 years",...
Loris Douyez had the great opportunity to perform the Belgian creation of the accordion concerto "Recall" by Per Nørgård accompanied by the Orchestre Philharmonique Royal de Liège as part of the Classic Academy 2021.
Also a composer, his music has already been performed in various countries (Denmark, Canada, Russia, Italy, Poland, etc.) and many projects are being written (solo repertoire, orchestra, chamber music, etc.).
Currently, he is doing an Advanced Postgraduate Soloist Performer on the accordion in the class of Geir Draugsvoll at the Royal Danish Academy of Music (Copenhagen, Denmark).
Loris Douyez plays a Charles-François Gand "Gand Père" violin from 1840, graciously loaned by the Baron Arthur Grumiaux Foundation.
